Organic, Fairtrade Shea Butter
Shea Butter is rich in vitamins A, E and F, and penetrates and protects your skin. It’s the reason our body scrub has a lasting richness and provides intense skin nourishment without being greasy. The sustainable story of Shea butter production is one of its greatest assets. Awake Organics use traditional Ghanaian Shea butter which has been hand crafted by a local women’s cooperative in the sub-Saharan Savannah-Sahel. The butter is extracted from the nuts of the Shea tree, and the harvest and processing provides Ghanaian women with a secured income for their family. Women in the Co-op harvest, clean and press the Shea nuts and then negotiate their own price before it arrives in Europe for retail. Awake Organics are proud to use Shea butter that makes a significant positive impact on families within Ghana.

Sea Buckthorn & Sweet Orange
A combination of two superstar ingredients: Sea Buckthorn oil and Sweet Orange, and this combo also packs a potent Vitamin C punch! The Sea Buckthorn fruit oil contains an exceptional concentration of natural anti-ageing Vitamin C; 12 x higher than that of an orange! The antioxidant properties of Vitamin C, and its role in the production of Collagen, make it a vital molecule for healthy, glowing skin. Sea Buckthorn oil is extracted from the fruit pulp, which gives it an intense red/orange colour naturally. The Sweet Orange oil we use is also bright orange. This oil is harvested and distilled from fresh, organic orange peels. You will have come across orange oil when peeling the fruit in your hands, you will feel the natural oils from the peel and this is the exact oil we are expressing. Orange oil is known for its Limonene (approx. 85%) and Myrcene (approx 5%) content, which are some of the best antioxidants for fighting off free radical damage. Its vitamin A, B and C content are wonderful attributes of our body scrub, not to mention the invigorating aroma and colour benefits it provides.

Organic Virgin Coconut Oil
Coconut oil has mild antipruritic, antiseptic and keratolytic (compounds that break down the outer layers of thick skin) properties. Awake Organics Organic Coconut Oil is food grade, cold-pressed and unrefined, so it retains it’s beautiful coconut scent. Coconut oil is antibacterial, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, and a thorough moisturiser for all skin types.

Himalayan Pink Salt
A body scrub just wouldn’t be scrubby without some beautiful Himalayan Pink Salt! Himalayan pink salt is not the same as sea salt, which is nice but can be contaminated by ocean pollution. Instead it’s a rock salt mined from huge salt crystal protrusions in the Khewra Salt Mines of Pakistan. All true Hymalayan Pink Salt comes from these salt mines. They are one of Pakistans most esteemed resources and largest natural exports. Pink salt improves scalp health by exfoliating, loosening and dissolving product build up and dandruff as well as stimulate circulation, which is what sluggish skin cells need. We use a fine grain, so our body scrub does the job properly without being too harsh on the skin (like coffee or apricot shells).

Organic Sunflower Seed oil
Sunflower seed oil has successfully transitioned from the food industry to cosmetics, thanks to its rich essential fatty acid profile and high vitamin E, A and D content. This particular oil is very moisturising and hydrating, helping keep your skin bouncy and soft. Sunflower seed oil absorbs quickly without leaving a heavy, oily residue behind.

Transport yourself to a tropical orangery with scent, colour and an invigorating texture. Scrub twice a week to rejuvenate, smooth and hydrate your skin in the bath or shower. Use warm water; allow it to run for 5-10 minutes to soften the skin. Pause the running water. Take a scoopful and lightly massage your skin in upward, circular motions. Maintain gentle pressure, but don’t scrub too hard. You can use less pressure on sensitive areas like upper thighs and abdomen. When you’re finished, rinse with warm water and gently pat dry. Don’t rub the towel up and down or you will remove all your lovely oils. We recommend using a dark towel in case of temporary colour transfer from our organic Orange oil. If that happens, don’t worry as it will wash out with hot, soapy water in the laundry.
